Style Guidelines

Proof-readers and copy-editors often ask for guidance about our house style. Some of it is just plain common-sense, and we'd particularly ask editors to beware of 'manuals' such as The Chicago Manual of Style, which is interesting but by no means 100% accurate in the UK, particularly Scotland. Indeed our main dictionary is Chambers'. Be very careful about being too rigid in what's 'right' and what's 'wrong'.

Here are our guidelines as they are at present. They'll become more detailed.
